In the following video, you can watch a presentation I gave in January 2025 about a case study comparing emissions from practical prop fabrication and digital animation. 'Lights, Computer... Action? The Environmental Impacts of Digital Filmmaking,' reveals that creating a CGI Artoo-Detoo produces far more greenhouse gas emissions than building an aluminium droid. The presentation talks through the case study's methodology, findings, and suggested actions to minimise our digital footprints.
